Unlock Your Invert

A 4 Week Class Series

Starting 25th July, 2024

Welcome to Unlock Your Invert!

A 4 Week Class Series teaching you how to build strength and technique to achieve straight arm inverts.

This class series is designed to give you the tools to work towards nailing your straight arm inverts, focusing on building specific strength and learning the detailed technique of this skill.

We’ll be learning the following:

  • How to efficiently warm up your whole body for straight arm strength training

  • How to assess your current level of strength, and what specifically needs focus for you to achieve your invert

  • Straight arm and bent arm strength drills

  • Dissecting the mechanics of straight arm inverts and invert specific drills

  • How to modify strength drills

  • Compression strength for your inverts

  • Programming straight arm invert training into your aerial practice

Each class will be practical and led by Circus and Movement Coach Verity Bradford. You’ll receive feedback and be able to as questions throughout the sessions. There will be time at the end of each class for Q and A.

Class Dates:

  • Thursday 25th July, 6pm BST

  • Thursday 1st August, 6pm BST

  • Tuesday 8th August, 6pm BST

  • Thursday 15th August, 6pm BST

Yes, there will be recordings if you can’t make the classes live! 🎉

Here’s what each week’s classes and training will cover.

Week 1 - Dissecting The Invert

In week 1 we will break down the mechanics of straight arm inverts, looking at the start, middle and end of the movement. We’ll learn specific drills to build strength in each part of the movement, plus look at modifications and how to self assess our level of strength. We’ll also address some of the common mistakes made when training inverts.

Week 2 - The Negative

In week 2 we’ll focus on negatives. Negatives are such a brilliant way to build strength for inverts, and understanding the movement better. We’ll also look more at what’s happening with the arms, shoulders and upper back, and strengthening those areas of the body.

Week 3 - Core And Compression

In week 3 we’ll dive deeper into core and compression training specifically for inverts. This will include hanging drills and floor drills. We’ll also look at flexibility for compression.

Week 4 - Conditioning and Programming

In week 4 we’ll finish up with a fully programmed strength and conditioning session so that you can see exactly how to train towards your inverts beyond the classes. We’ll discuss programming and how to personalise this for individual needs, and how to integrate it into your existing aerial practice.

Who this class series is for:

- Aerialists who can already bent arm invert but are struggling to progress with straight arm inverts

- Aerialists who want to build more straight arm strength, and generally prioritise strength training

- Aerialists who want to learn more about how to train towards this skill in a super accessible way

- Aerialists who have only just achieved a straight arm invert or trained it on and off, and want to be able to do it consistently and with ease

Pre-requisites:

To get the most out of these classes you’ll need to be able to invert in the air with bent arms at least a few times within an hour long aerial class. If you don’t have that level of strength yet, you’re still very welcome to join and learn, but some exercises might not be accessible to you yet.

What you’ll need:

Something you can hang from e.g. a pull up bar, rings, aerial apparatus. A small amount of floor space to train in. A yoga mat would be useful for a bit of extra comfort. You’ll also need two yoga blocks and a lightweight resistance band

(Please note if you don’t have apparatus you can hang from during the classes, you can still sign up and do them in your own time when you do have access to apparatus.)

Investment: £85

Time Commitment: 4 x 75 minute classes

FAQ’s

Still got questions or not sure if this is right for you? Drop me a message!

  • No! It’s fine if you can only make a couple live or if you watch all of them on replay in your own time. I'm aware not everyone will have access to equipment at the time of classes.

  • Yes, you’ll have access to the recordings within 24 hours of the live class, and you have lifetime access to them.

  • You don't need a lot of floor space, but you'll need access to something that you can hang from with space all the way around you.

  • These classes are not beginner classes, so I don't recommend them if you're brand new to aerial (unless you've been doing something like calisthenics for some time). If you can't invert yet but you're really keen to learn from these classes, you could still attend and do as much as you can. Some moves may not be accessible yet, but I do try and give as many modifications as possible.

  • You can still attend the classes live, and just join in with the warm up and floor drills, then do the class again when you have access to equipment. Or feel free to wait until you have access to equipment and go through the replay.
